How to set up email in Spark: IMAP settings and steps
Published on November 4, 2026 6 min read
Add your email address to Spark by Readdle with IMAP: server names, ports and steps for iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows, plus quick fixes.
To add your LJPc hosting email address to Spark, the email app by Readdle, set it up manually as an IMAP account. Enter ljpc.email as both the Inbox server and the Outbox server, with SSL on port 993 for incoming mail and SSL on port 465 for outgoing mail. Your username is your full email address and your password is the password of that address. Below you will find the steps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows, plus quick fixes if it does not work straight away.
What you need
- Your full email address, for example name@yourcompany.com.
- The password of that email address. Forgotten it? Set a new one in the customer portal, as described further down.
- The Spark app by Readdle, from the App Store (iPhone and iPad, iOS 16.4 or later), Google Play, or sparkmailapp.com for Mac and Windows.
Tip: sign in to webmail at ljpc.email first. If that works, you know your password is correct before you set up Spark.
Spark IMAP and SMTP settings
These are the details you enter on the Additional Settings screen (called Advanced Settings on iPhone and iPad):
| Field in Spark | What to enter |
|---|---|
| your full email address | |
| Inbox server (IMAP): Server | ljpc.email |
| Inbox server: Port and Protection | 993 with SSL |
| Outbox server (SMTP): Server | ljpc.email |
| Outbox server: Port and Protection | 465 with SSL, or 587 with STARTTLS |
| Username (incoming and outgoing) | your full email address |
| Password (incoming and outgoing) | the password of your email address |
Spark works with IMAP, which is exactly what we recommend: your mail stays on the server, so Spark, webmail and your other devices all show the same messages and folders. For protection Spark offers SSL and STARTTLS, and both work with our servers. Port 465 is encrypted from the very first moment, while port 587 starts unencrypted and switches to encryption straight away. Settings for other apps and devices are in set up your email on your phone, tablet and computer.
With LJPc hosting every domain uses the same server name, ljpc.email, with a valid certificate. Your connection automatically reaches the server that holds your mailbox, and if our mail server goes down, a second server takes over. You only set up Spark once.
Set up email in Spark on iPhone, iPad or Android
These steps follow Readdle's own guide. If Spark already has an account:
- Tap the menu (three lines) at the top left and then Settings at the bottom.
- Tap Email Accounts (Mail Accounts in some versions) and then Add Account.
- Choose Private Email Account and tap Set up manually (or Set Up Account Manually) instead of picking one of the listed providers.
- Enter your full email address and your password.
- Tap Advanced Settings (iPhone and iPad) or Additional Settings (Android).
- Fill in the details from the table above: ljpc.email, port 993 and SSL for the Inbox server, and ljpc.email, port 465 and SSL for the Outbox server. Use your full email address as the Username for both.
- Tap Add, Sign In or Log In, depending on your version. Spark checks your details and loads your mail.
Opening Spark for the first time? Tap Skip or Got It on the welcome screen, enter your email address, tick I agree to the Spark Privacy Policy and Terms of Service and tap Next. Then enter your password and continue from step 5.
Set up email in Spark on Mac or Windows
- Open Spark's settings: press Command and comma on a Mac or Ctrl and comma on Windows, or click Settings at the bottom left of the sidebar.
- Choose Accounts and click Add Account (or Add an Account).
- Enter your full email address and your password.
- Click Additional Settings and fill in the details from the table above.
- Click Add. Your mail is now in Spark.
If this is your first account in Spark, click the button to get started on the welcome screen, enter your email address, tick I agree to the Spark Privacy Policy and Terms of Service and click Next. Then enter your password and continue from step 4.
Your first account becomes your Email for Sync
The first account you add to Spark becomes your Email for Sync. Sign in to Spark on a new device with that address and Spark brings over your settings and your other accounts automatically, so you set up your business address once for all your devices. Keep in mind that removing the Email for Sync account from Spark also signs you out of the other accounts in the app.
Good to know: Spark uses Readdle's servers
Besides the app on your device, Spark also uses the servers of Readdle, the company behind it. According to Spark's privacy policy (version of 10 September 2026), Readdle stores the mail server credentials of your accounts for this, on servers in the United States and the European Economic Area. Readdle uses them for things like push notifications for new mail and setting up your accounts on a new device. Your mail itself stays on our server.
For business email this is worth knowing, for example for your privacy commitments under the GDPR. If you prefer an app that only connects directly to our mail server, choose one that works that way, such as Apple Mail on your Mac or Mozilla Thunderbird.
Changed your password? Update Spark
You set a new password for your email address yourself in the customer portal:
- Sign in and choose Services and then Sites in the menu.
- Click the site with the domain of your email address.
- In the Email addresses block, click the key icon next to your address, enter a new password of at least 8 characters twice and click Save.
The next time you open Spark, the app asks you to sign in again. Enter the new password. According to Readdle, the new password then applies on all your devices with Spark. Using the same address in another app as well? Enter the new password there too.
Spark cannot edit the server settings of a manually added account. If the server or port needs to change, remove the account and add it again with the right details. Your mail is stored on our server, so you lose nothing.
Spark not working? How to fix it
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Spark cannot add the account | Spark only adds an account once signing in to both the incoming and the outgoing server succeeds. Check that both servers use ljpc.email, your full email address and the same password. Test your password in webmail at ljpc.email. If that fails as well, set a new password in the customer portal. |
| The message Can't reach the server | Check your internet connection and turn off any VPN, as Readdle recommends. Try another network, for example mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. If webmail at ljpc.email works, the cause lies with the network or with Spark, not with your mailbox. |
| A sent message stays in the Outbox | Spark only sends a message after the window in which you can still undo it, 5 seconds by default, so keep the app open for a moment after you tap Send. If the message is still stuck after that, use port 587 with STARTTLS for the Outbox server instead of 465 with SSL, by removing the account and adding it again. |
| ljpc.email stops loading on your Wi-Fi while other websites work | If a device keeps signing in with a wrong password, we block that internet connection for half an hour after many failed attempts. This keeps intruders away from your mailbox. Update the password in Spark and your other apps; after half an hour the connection works again. If a device tried an address that does not exist, for example because of a typo in the username, the block lasts longer and we lift it for you. Read how this works in what is fail2ban. |

Remove an account from Spark
- Mac and Windows: open the settings, choose Accounts and click the account. Scroll down, click Remove Account and confirm with Remove.
- iPhone, iPad and Android: tap the menu at the top left, then Settings and Email Accounts (or Mail Accounts). Choose the account, scroll all the way down, tap Remove Account and confirm with Delete.
The account only disappears from Spark. Your email address still exists and your mail is still on our server, including in webmail. To have your data removed from Readdle as well, choose Remove your data at the bottom of the sidebar in the settings of Spark Desktop. To delete an address altogether, use the customer portal as described in create an email address in the customer portal.
Prefer another email app?
On your computer, Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird work well too. On an Android phone you can use the Gmail app or Samsung Email. On a device that is not yours, read your mail in LJPc webmail without setting anything up.
